A record number of Bulgarian municipalities are participating this year in the international tourism exhibition “Vacation & SPA Expo 2026” – over 50 in total. The event, held in Sofia from 12 to 14 February, brings together representatives from institutions, businesses, and cultural organizations to jointly promote Bulgaria as a year-round tourist destination.
“This is the result of active work and strong cooperation with local authorities, which has been a key focus and consistent policy of our institution throughout 2025,” said Miroslav Borshosh, outgoing Minister of Tourism. He noted that strengthening the role of regions in sectoral development is a global trend that Bulgaria has successfully embraced over the past year.
The national pavilion, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, highlights Bulgaria as a diverse, year-round destination, emphasizing cultural tourism, traditional crafts, summer and winter tourism, and urban experiences.
Opening the exhibition, the Minister stated:
"Through forums like this, we demonstrate how partnership between institutions, local authorities, and the industry leads to a stronger and more competitive presentation of Bulgaria. State, municipalities, and business – these are the three main pillars for the sustainable development of tourism."
The collaboration with the organizers of “Vacation & SPA Expo 2026” is part of strategic efforts to develop Bulgaria’s tourism sector and enhance the country’s international visibility.
