The President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Iliana Yotova, will take part in the upcoming XXXIX General Assembly of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB).
The forum will be held on 24 February in Sofia. Traditionally, mayors and municipal council chairs from all 265 municipalities in the country, who make up the supreme governing body of NAMRB, participate in the Assembly. During the session, they will review and approve the association’s annual activity report, outline priorities for its future work, and vote on the program for the current year.
President Yotova has repeatedly emphasized that her participation in NAMRB forums demonstrates respect for the role and responsibilities of local authorities. She has consistently stated that the presidential institution will continue to support municipalities’ efforts toward greater autonomy, noting that this process should be based on strengthened inter-institutional partnership.
In 2026, NAMRB celebrates its 30th anniversary. On this occasion, the General Assembly will host an official ceremony honoring the founders of the association and its chairs throughout the years.
Following the scheduled agenda, a discussion forum on current issues affecting local authorities is planned.
