The mayor of Ruse, Pencho Milkov, and the deputy mayor, Zlatomyra Stefanova, were on an official visit to the Chinese city of Yichun, Jiangxi region. The visit is in response to an invitation from the local administration and follows the unanimous decision of the Municipal Council - Rousse for twinning between the two cities. The delegation was welcomed by Yichun Mayor Tan Ganming at a special ceremony.

Our two cities share many common aspirations and visions, and I believe that together we can create bridges of friendship and cooperation that will stand the test of time. It is inspiring to see how Ichun develops and overcomes modern challenges with such energy and determination, said Pencho Milkov in his address.

Within the framework of the visit, the Ruse delegation visited industrial zones and local enterprises in Yichun, specialized in the production of hydraulic systems, lithium-ion batteries, construction materials and logistics. The emphasis was placed on the opportunities for cooperation between businesses from the two cities, especially in the context of the strategic transport corridor of Ruse.

An important moment of the visit was the signing of an agreement on cooperation in the field of sports, with a special emphasis on rowing disciplines. In 2023, the city of Ichun donated 4 dragon boats to Ruse Municipality, which will be used during the 2025 Dragon Boat World Championship in Lipnik Forest Park.

In the field of education, the largest university in Yichun with over 18,000 students was visited. The possibilities for exchange of students and teachers with the University of Rousse "Angel Kanchev" were discussed.

The next step in the twinning process will be a return visit of the mayor of Yichun Tan Ganming to Ruse in May, for which Pencho Milkov issued an official invitation.
