Popovo Municipality has signed a contract with the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the modernization of sports infrastructure. “This opens a new stage in the development of sport in our city,” said the Mayor of Popovo, Lyudmil Veselinov.

The contract provides for the implementation of the large-scale project “Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of Sports Infrastructure in the Town of Popovo,” which covers two key subprojects at the City Stadium. The project includes the reconstruction of the South Stand – Sector B; renovation of the stadium’s main entrance; installation of a new fence and modernized access alleys; rehabilitation of the athletics track at the training field; and construction of new away-fan sectors B1–B3.

According to Mayor Veselinov, the implementation of the project will create better conditions for sport and training for all clubs, young people, and children. At the same time, safety and comfort for spectators and participants in sporting events will be improved.

The upgraded facility will enable the town to host larger competitions, tournaments, and regional initiatives. It will support the development of athletics, football, and mass sport. “A more attractive environment for sporting events will draw more visitors and stimulate the local economy,” the mayor stated.

The mayor was emphatic that this is an investment that does more than simply renovate facilities—it creates new opportunities, inspires confidence, and demonstrates that Popovo is moving forward with a clear vision and genuine care for its people.
