In Lovech Municipality, more than 608 applications have been submitted for the free replacement of solid fuel heating devices with ecological alternatives. The application period runs until 1 April 2026 and is part of a project funded by the Environment Program. The list of approved candidates will be announced in May–June 2026.
Applications are being accepted at the Information Center of Lovech Municipality, and eligible participants include all households in the municipality currently using solid fuel devices for heating.
The aim of the replacement is to reduce excessive levels of fine particulate matter from domestic heating, thereby improving air quality and living conditions for the residents of Lovech.
The project has a total budget of over €13.4 million, with 100% grant financing, and is scheduled for completion by 10 May 2029.
The project covers the replacement of solid fuel heating devices in residential buildings, whether privately owned or operated by individuals or legal entities.
Approved participants will receive free delivery and installation of a new heating device on their property, while the old wood- or coal-fired device will be dismantled. The project also provides for the delivery, installation, warranty support, and insurance of photovoltaic systems for personal energy use in combination with local energy storage (batteries) for households that qualify for heating assistance and meet certain conditions.
Each eligible participant must, at their own expense, ensure the installation of internal heating connections and other necessary connections if they are not already in place when applying for a pellet stove with water jacket, pellet boiler, or air-to-water heat pump.
