Municipalities today

The municipal fund for the support of local initiatives in Targovishte will finance civic projects to improve the urban environment. Among the permissible activities are improvement of adjacent areas to public buildings and inter-block spaces, creation or renovation of green and colorful areas, and others. More non-standard ideas will be encouraged to transform the urban environment, without the activities necessarily being related to repairs, the municipal administration specifies. Funding is up to BGN 3,000, and applications are open until the end of August.

Candidates can be representatives of the non-governmental sector, community centers, educational and cultural institutions, managers of condominiums, as well as informal civil groups.

The project ideas will be evaluated in two stages - by a municipal commission and a public council. Funding contracts will be concluded with approved applicants. The deadline for the implementation of the initiatives is two months after the signing of the contracts.

The total amount of the fund is BGN 20,000. Of these, BGN 15,000 is provided by the municipal budget, and BGN 5,000 by the AGORA Platform Association.

In the previous two funding sessions under the fund, 14 projects related to the construction and renovation of alleys, sidewalks, gardens, recreation areas and children's playgrounds in the city and populated areas of the municipality were supported.
